good college...... but needs improvement.... teachers, lab assistants and principal ma'am are very sweet.......... infrastructure is improving..... so overall its really coming round quick :)
I never studied there so I can't really comment. But by the looks of it and also of the students, it seems to be an OK sort of college. Knowing Calcutta and its history of modern education it might be safely said that it can be an OK sort of college.
It was established in 1959 by the Government of West Bengal. It's a women's undergraduate college. It's a Government sponsored college. It's affiliated by the University of Calcutta. Smt Basanti Devi (23rd March, 1880 - 7th May, 1974) fought for Indian Independence. She was imprisoned many times. She was wife of the National leader and great patriot Deshbandhuu Chittaranjan Das. The girls from lower castes and poor community get opportunity to admission here. The college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. A few past students are Lopamudra Mitra, Singer, Tanushree Chakraborty, Actress etc. Basanti Devi was an Indian independence activist during the British rule in India. She was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1973. We would not get Deshbandhu without her in a great role as a spouse. Sri C R Das appeared as a defense counsel for Sri Aurobindo Ghosh in Alipore Bomb Case in 1908. He earned a lot and bestowed silently , became the president of the Gaya Congress in 1922 and became the first Mayor of Kolkata Municipality in 1924. Sri Subhash Ch Basu and Sri Das were in the same room in Alipore Central Jail during 1921 to 1922.
Worst college ever...this college is under cu (Calcutta University) .. I am joined in 2k19 nd doing my B.A. (G) I was supposed to finish my graduation in 2k22 bt since I failed in my last semester I didn't graduate till now...in last sem my sub was philosophy. The teachers are really extremely bad .. they weren't that bad when I joined this clg. They started showing their true colours when I mentioned them that I am supply candidate. They didn't provide any notes to me just because I am a supply candidate. They said that if I was a regular candidate then they would have provided the study materials properly. I have requested them 2x bt they didn't listen to me for once. So , I blame them for make me fail in philosophy. Idk who wil get admitted in this clg. But my request is that if u do have philosophy in ur core course paper nd u are finding it difficult then do it change it before it's too late. Don't make the same mistake like I did. If I had changed this sub then nothing would have happened. But anyways , rest is upto. Whether u want to get admitted in this clg or not. I am not saying that clg (s) under cu is bad bt there maybe some clg (s) like this one . So , be careful...🙂😔
